Fastest, Cleanest Workflow Avid to Vimeo

I'm trying to put nice, clean screeners from my Avid to Vimeo. Most of the suggestions I see start with Squeeze. With Squeeze no more, what is the best approach? Media Encoder, I think, no longer takes QT Refs and when I send my huge Same as Source export to Media Encoder, I get no picture and incorrect dimension information (this, after checking the file in QuickTime Player).

Sadly, I've been away from Media Composer for a while and am now a bit lost on this front.

    Any ideas?

My worflow is same-as-source QT, then Handbrake to encode to Vimeo specs. Pretty fast, looks good.

Squeeze is no longer supported, but if you have it on your system it still works fine, especially for YouTube/Vimeo, and it accepts QT ref.   I find encoding to MP4 works best for YouTube/Vimeo.

I use watch folders, with an intermediate export, to generate H264s. Either Adobe Media Encoder (transcodes & uploads to vimeo) or MXFtoMP4 from Bouke at videotoolshed.com and upload manually.

The latter is quicker as it starts the transcode as the Avid is exporting. Both can burn in logo and timecode.

For the intermediate export I mostly use:

XAVC-L 25 (if using AME) which is reasonalby quick and small, but fastest intermediate export so far acheived with

DNX85 (used for MXFtoMP4). AME doesn't seem to read the 1440x1080 nature of DNX85 correctly.

You could post here http://community.avid.com/forums/t/196684.aspx and see if there is any development...

Adobe Media Encoder 2019 does not handle QTRef -- but AME 2017 still does.  If you have a 2019 CC licesnse you can dowlnoad and use 2017.  There are no conflicts having both versions.  AME is a lot quicker than Squeeze.

I'd really like to have that as an alternative, but I no longer have 2017 loaded and when I search for it, I only see cracked versions. Is there a legit way of getting it?

If you have the Creative Cloud subscription go to the Apps menu, then to Media Encoder. Next to the Open button there is a down arrow. Click on that and then on Manage and then Other Versions. That allows you to install previous versions.

Ah, thank you GT. I had looked in the Apps menu, but not, foolishly at that arrow, just at the one on the other side that tells you what's new.

    I really appreciate it.
