Avid Link constant crash / hang

I am unable to stabilize Avid Link with one of my MBP. It beach balls from the Menu Bar. I have tried reinstalling, killing AppMan Helper process, etc. Nothing works.

Mac OS X 10.11.6? I don't think we tested AvidLink to this version, I will ask Keith. Can you try to uncheck Anonymous data collection and check the Admin function?

That is my suspicion as well. I will try to uncheck that box and see if it makes any difference.

    Hi Dom,

While we don't test that OS specifically, it shouldn't prevent you from launching Avid Link.

At what point during the launch does it hang? Can you post a screenshot?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks

Once the menu bar icon turns white, if you click on it the app will beachball. The main screen never appears.

Sorry for the hassle with this Dom.

Could you please run through these steps and try it again?

    1. Via the Activity Monitor, force Quit Avid Link, then quit App Manager Helper
    2. Manually delete the cache files from: HD/Library/Cache/Avid/Avid Link/Cache
    3. Restart your computer
    4. On restart, please check Activity Monitor to confirm that App Manager Helper is running
    5. (if not running) launch Avid Link
    6. See how it behaves

Please let me know what you think.  Thanks ~Keith

Unfortunately, the same. The Cache folder was empty. I deleted it anyway and also purged the Downloads folder.

However, deleting the DB folder seems to fix it. If I log in, eventually it will beachball again.

    Thank you,

    Hi Dom,

And when it beachballs, can you confirm that the App Manager Helper process is running please?

    Via Activity Monitor

    Please let me know.

    Thanks

Re: Avid Link constant crash / hang

    I'm having a similar issue.

When I upgrade I get the "This software was released past your expiration date" then Avid Link won't recognise my activation after I did the upgrade and I just get the spinning wheel. I followed the instrucitons below and deleted the cache folder but it still just spins.

I have to be honest. This happens to me a couple of times a year when new updates come out and it gets increasingly annoying each time. I'm paying good money every year for a service and a product and right now I can't access that product. This happens way more often than it should.

    Getting very annoyed.
