How To ONLY Re-Wrap Upon Import Without Re-Compressing

How do I determine which import option to use such that Avid ONLY re-wraps the CODEC to MXF without any re-compression.

In other words, I don't want Avid to change even one single bit of data...just re-wrap to MXF so that it is a much faster import.

The list of Import options in Media Composer 2018.12.1 doesn't provide enough information to quickly determine which option will result in the above goal.

    128GB Corsair DRAM4 running at 3400 Mhz

    Nvidia Titan RTX Video Card

    2TB SSD Samsung

Asus Prime X299 Deluxe II motherboard (BIOS tweaked CPU to 4.4Ghz and RAM to 3300Mhz)

    Media Composer 2018.12.1

all running very cool with great temperature control

Re: Fastest Way To Import Non-Supported CODEC

I use EditReady for this, but I believe it's Mac only. You might be able to use Adobe Media Creator (or whatever it's called) to batch your files to ProRes or DNxHR for fast import.

Are you AMA'ing then transcoding or are you using traditional Import command? The former is faster.

    Consolidate - don't "Import".  Yea, I know - semantics.

A consolidate is exactly what you are looking for.  Pulls the essence from one wrapper and puts it into Avid Op-Atom mxf wrapper.

consolidate with the delete source option selected.

I do this all the time with mxfs I create in ffmpeg or ame.

Man, I would NOT have "delete source" selected!  But that is just me.
