Link To R3D Via AMA NOT An Option

i ran the latest AMA plugin installer yet the AMA option is no where to be found in Media Composer

the guide says to click on "File" then to click on "Link To AMA Volume"

    File>Link To AMA Volume

    but no such option exists.

I also tried the following steps which is in the AMA plugin guide for R3D (RED)

    To Set Up AMA:

    1) in the project window, click settings tab

    2) Double click AMA

The AMA Settings dialog box appears.

    ...

none of the above steps exist in my Media Composer 2018.12.1

Thank you so much for your help !

I believe the guide you are referencing is way out of date.

Currently to link to any media you use the Source Browser and Link in that tool.

Re: Link To R3D Via AMA NOT An Option

I changed the ISO from 3200 to 100 and the file now looks perfect in Redcine-x but in Media composer it still looks like the ISO is 3200.

problem is that when I link to *.R3D, Media Composer does NOT bring in the changes I made to the *.R3D file.  *.R3D files are connected to an *.RMD file which is located in the same folder that the *.R3D file is connected to.

With RED cameras, people use RED's software (Redcine-X) to change things like ISO (among other things).  When the AMA plugin for RED camera files is working correctly, Media Composer will reflect any changes you make using Redcine-x.  The changes made through Redcine-X are stored in the *.RMD file because the *.R3D file can not be altered.  The AMA plugin for RED will be able to reflect all the data in the RMD file.

So I can successfully link an R3D file within Media Composer, but Media composer does not reflect the change I made to the ISO through Redcine-x.

why not just make the mxf's in redcine-x and move them to your avid mediafiles?

im a fan of the ama method but at some point one has to do what they have to do to start cutting.
