that's pretty much it at this poin

Agree, close but no cigar as yet, although promising. It seems you cannot animate the different objects at all, never mind individually. On my windows system the T+ button on the timeline doesn’t function, just get a bong sound when I click it. When I add the Titler from the effects menu it works. Also find it irritating that the property adjutments window disappears evry time you click on or scroll through the clip to view the Effect in the timeline, even though the main effects window is still active.

But still there is now more flexibility for designing titles and hi res.

I sadly have to confirm that the new Titler+ seems unusable for interlaced projects (1080i50 or 1080i59.94). Tested both and had the same result that the title just consist of one field, so very aliased / jagged edges on the font. Rendering the effect doesn´t help and the bad resolution of titles is also present in exported video, so it has nothing to do with the preview. Playback quality is set to high (10bit) of course.

No problem in progressive projects, there it renders fine...

Is the new titler just supposed to work in progressive projects?

Right now that kills version 2018.12 for me because the oldschool title tool takes suddenly extremely long to open (1-2 min every time) and the title+ is not working in interlaced. Any help or suggestions?

I didn´t have the problems with the slow start of the oldschool title effect in version 2018.10 though...

Edit: and I also found the old threads in the forum that suggested that it is related to the number of installed fonts but my tests happen on a newly installed win10 machine with almost no new fonts installed (only 127 alltogether...)

    Thanks,

    Felix

Can someone explain how this background save works?  Every time I save now I get a dialog that says "Creating bin snapsbhot for background save" that still interrupts me and seems to take about as long as the old save dialog box did.

Re: Media Composer 2018.12 Now Available

We're running into that same issue in a 1080p24 (true 24p) sequence that worked fine in Media Composer 2018.5.0. It appears that any non-realtime audiosuite effect applied to a clip has a good chance of failing to render and popping up the error: "Audio consumer duration differs from video edit duration by -18.0000000 samples. File: /Snapshots/relengmini4_1545861879/coresw/ame/src/player/match.c, Line: 6152". All one has to do to reproduce is apply D-Verb or Sci-Fi (or probably any non-realtime effect) to a clip in the timeline and hit render. Sometimes it works if we change the clip's duration, so I'm guessing maybe there's a math error happening somewhere that happens based on clip duration (just guessing).

This is with 24-bit 48Khz audio that came in with the dnx115 source media and has been working fine with the earlier version of Media Composer and these same effects settings. The audio media matches the audio project settings, there's no sample rate or bit depth conversions going on. Something's just a little fishy in the audio fx realm in 2018.12.

Oops, turns out it I had it wrong, serves me right for relaying information I saw demo'd on the editor's machine but didn't verify on my own. It works fine with the dnx115 source clips and their audio - the audio that's exhibiting the problem is temp ADR that was brought in long ago, probably in a 23.976p project. Worked fine in 2018.5.0, but exhibits errors when rendering audiosuite effects applied to those same clips in 2018.12.

Re: Media Composer 2018.12 Now Available

    Hi Zach Fine,

we tried extensive use of audio suite effects today on audio from XDCAMHD50 material in an 1080i50 project and we didn´t face any errors / render errors at all. We literally tried almost every effect from the audio suite and it was perfectly stable. So maybe you really had bad luck with that old ADR.

On proper configured HPz840 workstation with win10 pro 1803, we also had no more problems with delayed title tool startup / marquee startup. It launches as fast as we knew it from the older avid versions and we are very happy with it.

I still don´t know what causes the delayed start on the other two machines but as those aren´t certified workstations (one laptop and one custom built editing machine with ryzen) we cannot really ask for perfect performance. I think this is the reason for specs :-) I keep on searching for a solution...

But the new title+ tool still only works on progressive projects, in interlaced you get only one field. Is this a bug or is it design?

After all, we now are very happy with the 2018.12 version. We had an intensive testing day yesterday with two certified machines connected to Nexis with interplay and the system performed really stable on every task we threw at it. We will roll it out next week in our company and I hope it continues that good.

    Best,

    Felix

Re: Media Composer 2018.12 Now Available

When I get a chance I'll try to do a better regression on the problem we're experiencing. My bet is that the audio was imported at 23.98 and when placed in the timeline as a clip with certain durations the sample calculations aren't working out (not sure how to end up under by 18 samples, but that's what the error message points to).

Really struggling with the new title titler.  Not intuitive to use, it took ages to work out why the translate controls were having no effect.  How can you set a rotate  origin when there is no reference on the screen? etc etc

It seems to be a rushed out very basic version 1.0

    Very dissapointing:(

Thumbs up for the shape tool in Symphony - an excellent addition. :)

It seems like they have been working on it for over a year so not sure why it would have been rushed out. Unless they just decided to release knowing it wasn't 100% ready just to have it out there.

Re: Media Composer 2018.12 Now Available

We have installed it because the BUG-Fix for the Baselight PlugIn. Thanx for this.

But the Background Bin Feature has to be tested before such an release is made.

Please at all users do not use it or take extremely care using it...

This feature saves our Bins with 0kb! Also in the Attic-Folder! Already the second workstation has got infacted by that problem. So we deactivated BackgroundBinSave in the Console. But hey what a disaster is this? It is not a real Background save. It is saving in an temporal bin and when it wants to write the original bin it can´t because the "lck" (Bin-lock) File! So this is not working at Windows. With Mac we had another Issue: When we rendered Sequences and saved them via Background BinSave and closed the Bin and opened the Bin on another Windows workstation,  then always the last ca. 50 effects of the sequence which has been rendered are not rendered / or the renderfiles have not been saved.

Re: Media Composer 2018.12 Now Available

I was looking for this post in the Mac forum but I will post here. My office just got a brand new iMac Pro (2017) but it was installed with OS Mojave 10.14.2 on it. I installed 2018.12 but the playback is very slow and staggered even for 1080p videos. The other macs in the office are on High Sierra 10.13.6 connected to a ISIS storage system with Nexis Client Manager and we have no problems. We have tried to downgrade the iMac Pro to High Sierra but that has not worked. Is there any new support coming Mojave or Nexis/ISIS?

    In 2018.12

If I have a group on my record side and press my "find bin" button, nothing happens...

This would help get me to the clip in the bin faster.  thx
