How is story video-id resolved to a sequence id in Interplay?

    Hi all,

I am just looking for a bit of information about the components/configuration settings needed to answer this question?  Apologies if the answer is simple and I am just missing it...

How does the iNews server resolve a video-id to a sequence-id so that queries on the queues with INewsWebServices has the sequence id in the nsml provided in the response?   is there a setting/config on iNews server specifying Interplay server (my thoughts but I don't see it in the config docs)

What needs to be configured on iNews server to retrieve from checked in Interplay sequences that have the same video-id?

Current test lab we have here is using iNews 5.41.  IPE is 3.5.    We have iNews Workstation creating the queues/stories, these show up on story queries from our app.  sequence-id field is not set (null).

    Thanks!

    Rich

    Hi Rich,

There is no setting in iNEWS for this. iNEWS itself does generate or use sequenceID.

SequenceID can be added from Interplay or MediaCentral UX or MediaCentral | CloudUX applications only.

    Hi Olena,

Thank you so much for your reply.

Our application uses Inews Webservices to obtain the StoryNSML from the iNews server.  The reason for my question is that sometimes a sequence UMID is associated with the story and other times it is not.  I am not sure of the mechanism that does this.   NSML from our system (working case) below has the sequence UMID resolved for this video-id.  see boldfaced text below.  I am just curious what is needed to make this association successful.  Other times it doesn't seem to happen and the sequence ID is missing from the NSML.  What makes this update?

(Also - using NEWS Workstation 5.4.1.7 a component of iNEWS  5.4.1.7 © 1997-2016 Avid Technology, Inc. All rights reserved - to manage queue and stories in this particular case)

Re: How is story video-id resolved to a sequence id in Interplay?

    Hi Rich,

"The reason for my question is that sometimes a sequence UMID is associated with the story and other times it is not.  I am not sure of the mechanism that does this." - Video Sequence is production cue of the type "S", as in your example above

    <ae version="C3.0" id="0" pitch="0" font="" family="0" type="S" runs="0">

    <hidden>{"sequenceID":"060a2b340101010101010f0013-000000-d322ade52717091c-060e2b347f7f-2a80"}</hidden>

Video Sequence can be associated with story from Media Central | UX client or from Cloud | UX client applications only.

So if  Media Central | UX client user (or Cloud | UX client) associate some sequence with story then production cue of type "S" is added to nsml.

Production cue of "S" type is displayed in iNEWS client as grommet image in story body and "Video Sequence" text is added to production cue's body.

So Video Sequence does not belong to Story Form area. This highlight is not related to Video Sequence:

    <string urgency="1" uec="false" ro="false" id="video-id" bg="0" aready="false">10040002</string>

    Thanks,

    Olena

    Hi Olena,

Thank you very much for the details on this particular interface mechanism.   This explains the process and helps us out.  I appreciate the quick response!  Smile

    Best regards,
