    Custom resolution & performance

Does custom resolution affect performance of a Media Composer Project?

I started working in a 4K @ 23,976 project in 4096x2160. The project has a main camera shooting in this resolution. But since then, new footage is coming in and most of what I have now is 3840x2160 (Canon C200). So I was thinking of switching the whole project to 3840x2160 (custom preset) and having the other camera to resize in source settings.

Talking about source settings, another question: When using “Center crop”, is there anyway to reframe to decide, for example, to have the upper frame or the lower frame instead of being dead center? Or do I have to choose “letter box” from the Source settings and apply a Resize effect to the clip?

    Re: Custom resolution & performance

3840 x 2160 is the UHD standard.  No need for a custom preset.

    I would use that.

I believe you can change the "frame aspect" in the Frame-flex tool of the clip in the sequence to enable what you're asking for, no?
