    problem with Quicktime Reference

I'm trying to make a Quicktime Reference in order to bring that into Media Encoder and have Encoder make an h264 file there.

My footage is 4K but I've made a video mixdown in Avid - that also has 4K dimensions of 4096x2160.

The problem is more often than not the Quicktime Reference comes out with no video.  Sometimes I've been able to export a small piece of the sequence that comes out correctly but usually not.

    Any thoughts?   Very frustrating.

    Thanks.

If you have a mixdown then why not do a same as source export as a complete file and skip the ref ?

Thanks for your response.  A same as source will be too big.  I'm trying to make a compressed h264 file.  Avid takes so long to do that I was trying to use Encoder in the background from a Ref.

    Re: problem with Quicktime Reference

Adobe Media Encoder no longer supports QT Reference files - see here:

    The 2017 version still works.

    Re: problem with Quicktime Reference

I've seen the same problem on multiple systems.  The weird thing is that some systems always work and others work (or don't work) randomly.  If your QT reference works in other encoding programs like Compressor or Squeeze then it would seem to be an Adobe question.

Must think of something clever to go here...
