    Avid Artist DNxID

can it be turned off - after turning off the computer it stays on all the time? At the same time, it generates a lot of noise

Yes it can be powered down. Just power it up and let it initilize  before starting avid after a power down

    Robert......

All of the BMD stand alone video products have their own power supplies with no on/off switch (AJA products are similar).  You can only “turn them off” by pulling the plug.

The fan noise from DnxID is barely noticeable so I’m not really sure what you are referring too with the statement “it makes a lot of noise”...

    Explain?

    thanks

my previous BMD (mini monitor, ultra studio express) devices were powered only with thunderbolt.

Disk arrays (OWC ThunderBay 4) go into standby mode and are silent. Only Avid artist DNxID stays on all the time and is audible.
