    1080 ti 8mb or P4000??? Help!

Before I take some classes I'm doing a 6 month self study of 3d Studio Max, After Effects and Avid.  I am building a computer and need some advice.  All the programs have been tested and confirm to work with the 1080,  all except Avid which only recommends Quadro cards.  Is anyone using the 1080? Are you having problems?  Does anyone know what program features that won't work with the 1080? This what I have so far...

    Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7GHz 6-Core Processor

Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler

    Asus - Prime Z370-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

    Corsair - Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-2666 Memory

    Crucial - MX500 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Western Digital - Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Cooler Master - Storm Stryker (White) ATX Full Tower Case

Thermaltake - 750W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

    Asus - DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer

    Microsoft - Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit

I don't know all I want to do with the programs because I don't know all that they can do (or what I can imagine).  I'm starting out wanting to edit videos, doing some animation and adding special effects.

Hi Shar103 and welcome to the forums. Although unsupported the 1080 might work with MC, You'll have to find a driver release Avid friendly (and 3dS-AE friendly...). This has been discussed plenty over the forums, please run a search for additional information.

Symphony 2018.9, BM Intensity Pro 4k, Windows 10, i7-5930K, 32 GB ram, Quadro K620 [view my complete system specs]

    Re: 1080 ti 8mb or P4000??? Help!

I chose the 1080ti  and it boost my avid system, expecially when i work with xavc-i 4k - now i am able to play it back smooth.
I m not sure about 3d studio - but after effects will also love the 1080ti.

i guess your ssd will be to small - if you use a 1 tb you could also use the c-drive for a cache drive. but 500gb you need at least for your programs.

    cheers

    c.
