    AMT3: Interplay checkin errors

    Hello,

We tested the checkin procedure to interplay using the Demo application of the new AMT3.0 SDK itself.

The sample application from Avid has the name “MediaProcessor.Demos.exe”.

We also used a sample clip from Avid itself (is inside the AMT package).

This is the error log from the Application:

INFO - ..\..\MediaProcessor\src\MediaProcessor\DataIO\SOAPRequest.cpp, line: 501: SOAP request finished. Execution took 81ms.

ERROR - InterplayWebServicesNotificationChannel[interplay://ccpostwg/Incoming Media/Genesix] WebService request failed: ..\..\MediaProcessor\src\MediaProcessor\Notifications\InterplayWebServicesNotificationChannel.cpp, 116: Failed to locate 'CheckInAAFResponse' element in the SOAP response body..

And we get this error message by calling the webservice:

Next we tried to call this function “CheckInAAF” directly from the webservice.

This error message we receive from the Avid webservice by calling this function:

We are thinking that the Avid system is not correctly setup and that is why we cannot check in clips.

Any idea what we should look for into Avid Interplay settings?

    Tsachi,

as mentioned in my posting to a similar question, please use a toolkit such as SOAPUI to validate that your Interplay Web Services instance is operational and that you have valid credentials etc at hand. You can do this in SOAPUI or similar tools by executing the CheckinAAF() SOAP call in the IPWS Assets realm. You can use SOAPUI to exercise and validate other IPWS functions to get a better understanding on how IPWS operate. Once you have successfully performed a 'manual' checkin operation using the SOAP API, you can assume your IPWS instance and your credentials to be valid and can supply the same parameters though AMT3.

The error messages above sound like an installation problem so it is important to validate that your infrastructure is operational. This may require having an Avid Shared Storage environment (ISIS, NEXIS) available.

    Re: AMT3: Interplay checkin errors

BTW, the problem showing in the error messages does not seem like it is settings related, rather this appears to be an incomplete installation.

For successfully performing an AAF checkin using Interplay Web Services and working with the media, you need at least the following items installed and configured:

    • Media Central Production (Interplay) Engine - the database
    • Media Central Production (Interplay) Web Services - the SOAP API
    • Media Central Production Index (Media Indexer) - provides media status
    • ISIS or NEXIS storage - shared storage compatible with Production database
    • ISIS or NEXIS client on the machines that performs the checkin - enables access to shared storage
    • Access client on the machine performing the ingest - database access libraries and management UI
    • Media Composer, MediaCentral or CloudUX for playing back the video

    Re: AMT3: Interplay checkin errors

    Hi Tsachi,

We are a 3rd party developer and by no means am I responding on behalf of Avid or as an expert on the internals of IPWS.

It may be worth trying IPWS 3.80 or IPWS 20172.  This is just a suggestion based on seeing the same error in our test lab with some newer IPWS versions (eg IPWS 20186).  To work around we currently test with IPWS 3.80 and IPWS 20172.   We do not have any problems with these versions.   Admittedly we have not spent a lot of time trying to understand the issue, we are just using an older IPWS version.

    Good luck!
