    NVIDIA Work around?

I have really nice NVIDIA Quadro cards that work fantastically with After Effects and Davinci Resolve, but it seems like Avid doesn't support any drivers from the last few years (to back beofre Windows 10).  I remember using a workaround that had me change one line of code before starting Avid that allowed the system to get past the error message and turn on and work (with possible bad issues with some effects that I don't care about).   I'm pretty sure I found that workaround here in the forums somewhere but I can't find it.

Also, if Avid doesn't support Nvidia, what DO they support?  Or do i need to create a dual boot system, one for Avid, and one for everythig else?

I think you have outdated info. Avid do have recommended drivers packaged with their installer. But you can install other versions if you like. We regularly do, especially with systems that need Adobe and/or Resolve.

    Re: NVIDIA Work around?

I'm just going off of what popped up when I did a fresh install of Avid and tried to start it.  It refused to go past the warning screen and it gave me the name of the Nvidia Driver version that it supported and that version was a few years old and didn't support Windows 10.

@Dom  So if you have newer Nvidia drivers, how do you get past that pop up?

Do you mean this?  It may be of use if you get the drivers installed.

Are you talking about v7 or v8?

If I remember correctly, you can ignore and disable the warning.

    Re: NVIDIA Work around?

@ShadenFreude I think you're getting close.  I did it over a year ago - maybe two so i don't remember the details .  I think it may have been a txt file, yeah, and I think I had to change one line of it (i forget if it was deleting the line or altering the line) and then it would get past the warnign screen.

@Dom Q. Silverio.   It's the latest version 2018.9 I think. (I think that's also known as 8.8.9) I'm not i front of the computer to say for sure.  I was unable to ignore the warning.

    Re: NVIDIA Work around?

@ShadenFreude  I actually think that's the right file, but it doesn't list my card or driver as being not acceptable.  Is there another similar file?

    Re: NVIDIA Work around?

I think it was a txt file in the avid system file and you added your card version and it  stopped the warning

    Re: NVIDIA Work around?

@Tome Pearson    Yeah, that's the way it used to be.  They had a "qualified card" file, but now they have a "Disqualified card" file, and you erase your card from that list.  But neither my card nor my driver are on the list.   Unless there is another list somewhere.  As Shadenfreude said, the editable disqualified list can be found at C:\Program Files\Avid\Avid Media Composer\SupportingFiles\Config\DisqualifiedGpuBoards.txt
