    subcap subtitle export for Vimeo

I've made subtitles to a film using subcap. Than I've exported them in both .txt and .stl.
The problemis I can't find a way to apply them on Vimeo. I know that Vimeo supports .vtt and .srt, so I've converted my subtitles using a few online tools (http://www.nikse.dk/SubtitleEdit/Online  and https://gotranscript.com/subtitle-converter). But my converted files don't work on Vimeo. I can't figure out why. I've even tried to convert them in UTF-8, following Vimeo guidelines, but with no results. I guess Avid subcap export has some problems.
I'd really appreciate any kind of help because I'm going crazy.

    Thanks!

Re: subcap subtitle export for Vimeo

Ok, I got it to work for me on Vimeo.

    Export subcap file as .txt

Open Text editor / notepad - my start timecode was set to 01:00:00:00.

Change that to start at 00:00:00:00, and change all captions to start an hour earlier.

    Go to this site:

    https://transcribefiles.net/other/pages/caption-subtitle-converter.htm

Upload file, and convert to .srt

Download that file, rename it something reasonable (It comes out with a really long name).

    Upload to vimeo.

    It will work.

Re: subcap subtitle export for Vimeo

    Thanks Rick,
that was the exactoly the problem. I've discovered that last night, but instead of manually change all my
in and out point in the .txt, I've duplicated the sequence,  cut my counter and everything before the start of my film (it was 1:00:00:00). Than I changed the starting timecode on my timeline to 00:00:00:00 and I've exported my subtitles in .txt. and converted it in .vtt from this website: https://gotranscript.com/subtitle-converter

Now, my Vimeo subs work fine.

Re: subcap subtitle export for Vimeo

Thanks for the online converter! Works like a charm.

For anyone using the export caption data, a little warning if you use disabled (invisible) subcaps on your timeline:

Disabled subcaps may appear in your text file and be visible on Vimeo!

I didn't inspect this issue further, but at least two disabled subcaps from the timeline got added to the txt file at 00:00:00:00 as visible captions. May also have something to do with subcaps sitting on various tracks, dunno. I just deleted these disabled subcaps (which were prepared for a specific case that did not happen) and the file is fine.
