Forgetting about my waveform woes with live timeline, I have two ideas that I think would make it much more functional.
1) Allow the marker window to pop up while still playing. I remember in the days of yore when we had to digitize from tape, I was able to make makers and type notes as I watched the video loading. I would love a return to this functionality. I know I can actually make a marker and type in the marker panel while playing the live time-line, but I want to be able to just hit the marker button and start typing – logging footage essentially.
2) Script-Sync should interrupt live-timeline. When I double click on a script, Avid goes to that point in the clip so I can then play it. Now with live-timeline it does nothing if I'm playing. This is a loss of functionality, not a gain. Obviously if I'm clicking over and over again on the script, I want the Avid to respond and not to keep playing and making me hit extra buttons to do something that used to work with one double-click.
Hey there
Please take a look at the 2018.9 readme – there is a change for Markers to give more flexibility for showing or not showing the edit marker dialog when adding markers during playback.
Side note – there is an issue with adding markers on the source side viewer when the clip is a “synthetic”, i.e. stereo audio or mismatch rate. That will be worked on soon.
We’ll take a look at scriptsync.
