Media Composer 2018.7 does not work with Decklink Ultrastudio Mini Monitor. Downloaded the latest drivers and reinstalled them.
Hi John
Have you been in contact with BMD?

Hi,
Mine's working fine, using the DNxIO driver (v10.10.1) from the Download Centre. What OS version are you running?
I tried 10.10, did not work. Tried Latest, 10.11, does not work. Reinstalled 2018.5, works fine.
So you didnt try 10.10.1?
When you say it doesn't work, what do you mean exactly? Do you get any error messages on startup or on opening a Project?
A new feature of v2018.7 is the NDI streaming. This uses the same Open IO subsystem as the Ultrastudio. The HW/SW enable button (2 to the right of the audio meters in the timeline) now has a right-click menu in which you can choose either Open I/O NDI or Ultrastudio. Perhaps you need to select the Ultrastudio here?
I do not get the icon above the timeline to enable/disable the monitoring device. (like when there are no drivers installed). Usully, I dont have issues with AVID updates, but this one is a work killer! I am editing a large project with client supervision and I dont have time to try and fix AVIDs problems! I am staying on 2018.5 untill further notice.
...same problem like John, after having updated to 2018.7 today. What a luck, that I have no client today, so I can spend some time on this issue. So what is the progressive solution? Or is downgrading the only workaround at this point?
...right time, wrong place guys, cause I´am on windows. And in this case the solution was easy: updating the BMD Desktop Video Driver to 10.11 and now you can choose between Mini Monitor and NDI as intended by Avid.
It could be High sierra that disables the blackmagic driver for security. Try to open system preferences > Security > General to see if the driver is disabled.

Marianna: So you didnt try 10.10.1? Marianna
I´m seeing something similar - but not constant on two CPU’s.Both CPU’s are MacPro (the trash bin)
2018.7.1 Blackmagic_Desktop_Video_10.11.2 not working with video, just audio. Tried 10.10 as well. 2018.5 works fine
I am having similar problems, already posted this on a different thread
https://community.avid.com/forums/t/185001.aspx
I went through entensive remote session support with Avid (Thank you Aleksandra) some weeks ago but we weren't able to solve this.
To summarize:
With the update to 2018.7 I lost all my IO devices (AJA IOExpress, BMD Ultrastudio Mini Monitor) and even the HW/SW toggle has disappeared. Info box stating no I/O hardware available. Reverted back to 2018.5.1 (special edition) all was back again.
Strangely these IO devices still work flawlessly with FCPX, Premiere and After Effects, Mini Monitor with Davinci Resolve.
Now that 2018.8 is out I tried to update again, same story, no HW/SW button, no devices detected.
So it seems I am stuck with version 2018.5?

I am still in contact with Avid support, ready for another remote session, but I am very much in doubt that the fault is on my system.
Best
Dont know if this helps...
Open I/O discovered 3 plug-ins and will enumerate them for HWInstances:
Plugin #0 ( Name: OpenIO_NDI, Version: 2.0 )
VDMerr [8000ffff] @ /Snapshots/relengmini1_1533773190/HWsupport/HWSDK/src/HWSDK.cpp | Line# 350 :: Error Code: 8000ffff Msg: Error Code: result Msg: " Plugin #0: Failed to get enumeration interface."
From startup in console
Hi John,
with a little help from Avid support I discovered that the quite obsolete Boris Final Effects 6 AVX bundle was to blame.
Dropped it into an AVX-unused folder and now IOExpress, and I think Mini Monitor as well (didn't give it a test yet) are being detected.
Sometimes things are quite simple, aren't they?
Kind Regards
Thanks.. I have the latest version of boris. I will try and boot wothout boris and see what happens.
2018.8 works fine on 2017 Macbookpro with decklink monitor.
