Two Mono tracks export to stereo question

    Hello,

I am very new to MC and not too familiar. I started a project where the source file is a stereo quicktime. When I dragged it into the timeline it defaulted to two mono tracks. I didn't think anything of it panned the tracks left and right. Made all my edits and transitions. Now when I go to export, the final exported QT file is mono. Can anyone explain to me how I can export the timeline so the pans export the two mono tracks as a stereo QT?

I do realize now I shouldve modifed the master clip to stereo before dropping it into the timeline. But Since I've already edited the piece the way I want is it possible to do after the fact?

    Thank You

How are you making your exported QT.  What you are trying should work fine.  It is probably an output settings issue.

Oops.  I see now you are using Media Composer | First.  I have no experience with it.  Hope someone else can help you.

    Sorry.

we logged this as a bug MCCET-2482 back last month. Hopefully it will get fixed in the 2018.6 release but still waiting to be resolved... so no idea if it will make it to 2018.6 or 2018.7

Re: Two Mono tracks export to stereo question

Since I didn't know about the Modify Masterclip to Stereo when I started this I did a test.

If I set the master clip to stereo then drop it into timeline, it drops as a stereo track, and the QT I export ends up being stereo.

But two mono tracks panned left / right end up with a mono QT after export.
