    Redcode Raw R3D in Avid Media Composer

    How can I work with the native UNCHANGED version of the "Redcode Raw R3D" file  in Avid Media Composer?

    OR

    which version of Avid Media Composer works with 4K Redcode Raw R3D?

    install the RED AMA plugin compatible with your installed version of media composer. Link clips. edit. I would use MC 8.8 or newer, 2018.2 is the sweet spot of "modern" releases, IMO. 2018.4 seems very crash-prone, and 2018.5 has a color shift bug in the software viewers on windows when using non-quadro GPUs. 

     

    other notable stuff: use proxy workflow for multicam, remember to use frameflex and source settings (LUTs, framerates, etc.), and use source-quality settings for debayer quality.  

     

    ignore the frameio RED workflow guides if you come across them. They focus on adobe workflows mainly and pretty much ignore all the modern media composer functions.
