I'm a dongle user.
I don't have a Sentinel Driver folder in my Avid Utilities folder, but instead I have an AvidDXDriver .zip file, is that the same thing?
Also, as I am about to download v2018.5 from Media Composer Standard Support, I also see available to download a Dongle Updater file, should I also install that?
Sixteen hours later and I still don't have Avid 2018.5 in My Avid/My Products.
I haven't tried downloading Avid 2018.4 and seeing if 2018.5 is in the App Man, I'm on a tight bandwidth and would perfer to only download it once.
EDIT | I finally got 2018.5 in the Download Centre but it took a few goes, still nowhere to be found in My Avid.
After installing 2018.5 for Dongle based installation here on Mac OS 10.10.5 this was the correct path for me and in that folder was the required SentinelSystemDriver.pkg file. At this time the AvidDXDriver .zip file for me is in the Applications/Utilities/Avid Utilities folder.

Ι have uninstall 2018.4 and install 2018.5 no problems.
No need to install a driver.
Dongle too.
Marty

AndrewAction: Andrew:Also, as I am about to download v2018.5 from Media Composer Standard Support, I also see available to download a Dongle Updater file, should I also install that?If you have not run a dongle update in your current 12 support package I would suggest you do a dongle update before installing 2018.5.
It's asking for my dongle serial number. I entered it and it won't accept it. I rechecked the number to make sure it's correct. My dongle is ten years old though. I initially got it when I was a film student. Of course, I'm not a film student anymore and I don't think the MC version that I have now is a student version and I'm using a different computer now, but I could be wrong.

AndrewAction: Andrew:It's asking for my dongle serial number. I entered it and it won't accept it.Which version of MC are you upgrading from? If earlier than 2018.4 then that maybe why you do not see the Sentinel driver where you would expect it from the 2018.5 Readme notes in Kevin's post. Yes it's earlier, it's 2018.2. Andrew:My dongle is ten years old though. My dongles are that age or older so I do not THINK that is an issue. Can you try with the dongle plugged directly into a USB 2 port on your iMac?
Yes it's earlier, it's 2018.2.
I have it on a USB port in my keyboard. Would plugging it directly in my iMac make a difference? I've been able to open MC with the dongle plugged my keyboard.
Andrew:Would plugging it directly in my iMac make a difference?
Andrew:Yes it's earlier, it's 2018.2.
If not I am out of ideas so I suggest you gather your dongle System ID & Avid account details and email them to Raff raff.condalorATavid.com or Marianna marianna.montagueATavid.com It is their weekend so response times may be a little slower than usual.
AndrewAction: Andrew:Would plugging it directly in my iMac make a difference?Probably clutching at straws but it is possible. Andrew:Yes it's earlier, it's 2018.2. If you still have the 2018.2 installer download I would uninstall 2018.2. Install but not open 2018.5. Go to the /Applications/Utilities/Avid Utilities/Sentinel Driver folder. and install the Sentinel driver. Open the Avid Application manager and see if there is a dongle update. If so use it and then try 2018.5. Thanks, have to step out, I'll try your suggestions tomorrow morning (Sunday).

OK, I installed 2018.5 and installed the Sentinel driver and found the dongle update in the Application Manager. It gave me the Dongle Update Instructions, but this is where I'm stuck. It told me to go to the Application Manager in my dock since I have a Mac, but I don't have an Application Manager in my dock. I have it in my Avid folder in my Application Manager folder. I click on it and I can open Licensing. It tells me to go to the Choose action menu, but I don't see where the Choose action menu is. This is where I am stuck.
