"Software bugs are impossible to detect by anybody except the end user"
Hello, I have the IDT idt audio 65550 chipset on my Intel motherboard which is a DG965RY desktop bd. The IDT chipset is similar (in hardware terms) to the Realtek chipset, and this start-up problem WIN32_MIXER_SET_DETAILS_ERROR is definitely related to the audio driver.
The recent IDT hi-def audio driver updates WILL NOT work with Avid DV. After much frustration updating drivers, and many hours of research, I found that the original Sigmatel audio driver supplied on the desktop board driver CD works with Avid. This is the Sigmatel 9220 audio CODEC which uses the STHDA driver. I know the original driver supplied with the MB works fine with Avid and with the IDT chipset, but not sure if it will work with the RealTek chipset.
I also know that NONE of the later "updated" IDT audio drivers will work with Avid.
At the risk of getting this post removed from the site, one of my greatest frustrations with Avid on the PC, is getting the software working with current PC hardware drivers. For example Avid DV will not work with any PCI-E graphics card that I am aware of... only with the old PCI interface.
But I do like the program of course!
