MC 8.10 video layer switching bug

I confirmed this bug on a clean installation with new user settings. It's easy to replicate. We are on Mac Pro 2013 cylinders and Mac OS 10.12.6. Blackmagic Ultrastudio Express, driver 10.9.5 (it also happened with Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle Thunderbolt). We have seen this issue in MC 8.9.3 as well as 8.10 (did NOT happen in 8.5.3). When you switch the video layer you're monitoring (by clicking the record track monitor buttons to the right of V1 V2 etc in the timeline window), sometimes it will not update the image on the hardware video IO box (if you click back and forth between V1 and V2 about 8-10 times you'll probably see this start to happen if not immediately). The Mac desktop record monitor will always refresh fine. Workaround- if you frame forward or backward it will refresh the video IO box. This is annoying for editors who are trying to work with clients in the room. Please fix. Thanks!

EDIT: It does seem that rolling back the driver to 10.8.5 does fix this issue. I'll take it up with BMD.

Re: MC 8.10 video layer switching bug

I had a similar issue on three of my new systems (MC 8.9.4, macOS 10.12.6) with BM driver 10.9.7 and a Intensity Shuttle Thunderbolt. When you tried to move a clip with the segment tool frame by frame, the video monitor occasionally jumped one frame back. So you had an offset between the software moitor and the video monitor.

With driver 10.8.5 everything is ok.

Re: MC 8.10 video layer switching bug

I don't know if that helps but I already have a support case at Blackmagic (Support #PHI-288-81437) and at Avid (Case : 03321658) for that.

Avid supported tested with latest drivers and DNxIO and it's working, so it's a Blackmagic driver problem.

Blackmagic Support told me, that I'm the first one reporting that issue. So I guess the more people contact Blackmagic support the better chance that it gets fixed.

all different setups in various editing suites. my own: MC 2018.2, OSX 10.12.6, iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), 4,2 GHz Intel Core i7, 40GB RAM, Radeon... [view my complete system specs]
