    Dupe Detection glitchy in 8.9.4

Hey all, can someone confirm dupe detection's spotty functionality in 8.9.4?  I was comparing some edits whilst prepping for color, and dropped something on track 3 that had duplicates but they didn't trigger DD... when I moved the clips onto track 1 the DD activated, when I moved the clips one frame left or right on track 3 it activated.... weird.

Re: Dupe Detection glitchy in 8.9.4

    Ok, more info:

I've tested it on 8.9.4 and 8.9.3... it has to do with clips requiring frame flex to resize down to your project settings.

Create an HD project (my tests were all 23.98), take any type of file that's bigger than HD (QT, mxf, what have you) and AMA link the clips into a bin.  Load a clip into source, mark an in and out, and cut them into the HD sequence.  Now cut the same clip onto a higher track (I used track 3, leaving track 2 blank).  Turn on DD and you'll see there's no DD color warning.  Now, using a segment tool, move the top clip one frame in either direction and suddenly, DD appears.

    It's a frame flex thing.

    Thanks,

    Jason

Re: Dupe Detection glitchy in 8.9.4

Hello, did Avid Support find the issue?

I'm also working with 8.9.4 and dupe detection sometimes disappears randomly, I don't use Frame Flex.

    It's a 1080p/25 project.

all different setups in various editing suites. my own: MC 8.9.4, OSX 10.12.6, iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017), 4,2 GHz Intel Core i7, 40GB RAM, Radeon... [view my complete system specs]
