ed prep - media composer 8,91

looks like i need to rebuild my win 7 system.

is it still the case you use edprep with media composer 8.91

its been a few years since i put a system together and i am stuggling to remember the order of things.

    1) Win 7 new install.

    2) win 7 updates,

    3) quicktime 7,79

    4)  nvidia 358.08

    5)  editshare client v 7

    6)  vnc

    run edprep..

    install media composer

will need to register media composer online (will need wifi enabled)

how do you switch the networking and wifi back on?

is this done in edprep or windows (whereabout in windows?

    My $0,02.

Complete your setup... inc activation, updates, 3rd party tools, everything.

When done you can still run edprep on windows 7 but, depending on your setup you should only apply a limited set of optimizations. It is better to run the latest ASDT tool

This includes most of the edprep optimizations but is still being updated by Avid, as I write this, where edprep is not.

Anyway, with both utilities it is wise to read what each setting does so you understand if you should apply them to your system and how to undo them if needed.

I'd stay away from EdPrep, too aggressive on the system settings, too difficult to revert the changes. You end up with the perfect setup for MC (perhaps), and an unpleasant Windows experience (for sure). I think the tweaks were needed with old computers, they are not anymore with the horsepower available on modern hardware. Just stick to the configuration as per the ReadMe file.
