Ok, I posted this earlier and got a message that the board was moderated. And my post never appeared. So here it is again.
I meant to type in Wikipedia, and mistyped it Wikipedua. Clicked in Google's spelling correction link and went to the correct page. Closed the laptop not long after that to go do other things. When I came back later and went into Avid, Little Snitch showed me a screen that said "Avid wants to connect to Wikipedua."
If it matters, I had just done system resets on my Mac earlier, due to a display issue.
Anyway, just putting it out there that this happened.
I find this concerning. I'll do some tests and see if I come across this as well.
Yeah it was bizarre. I've never seen it before. Although I might have seen Avid ask to connect to something before and not really looked at where it was going - just waved it through. What flagged me on this was that it matched my spelling error.
It would have been curious to see where it connected to, had that been something that could be done safely. Which of course it couldn't.
FWIW, the resets I did were PRam and SMC reset. 95% sure that was done before I saw this message and not after. I was doing a lot on the computer that morning. Probably not related though.

What do you mean when you went to Avid? Is this www.avid.com?
Thanks,

No, just that I was intending to switch back to the program on my computer to edit again. I'm not 100% sure if I was in the Avid program - it was one of several programs open but I may have been in Firefox, Textedit, or Word when the window came up.
It's possible a Firefox tab was open with an Avid forum thread I was monitoring, but it may or may not have been open since I had closed out Firefox a number of times and gone back in. Not sure if I pulled that tab up again or not.
I tried to do the same, but I never got the message, must be one the program installed in your machine that triggers that.
Yes, it's such an oddity it seems that it would be hard to replicate.
You were not by any chance in Avid Marketplace? That is essentially a browser inside MC.
Not that I"m aware of. Unless it just dialed it automatically when I wasn't looking. But still it wouldn't connect to my Google search.
I"m actually wondering if there could be some weird malware on my system that would make an app dial something? Haven't seen other apps do this though.
I suppose if someone's hacked into my system to spy on it, they would be pretty bored! And to steal my identity and bank account? Joke's on them! They'd be pretty disappointed!
The webcam would show me sitting for hours on end, logging, punctuated by occasional swearing at Avid into my chocolate ice cream.
