    MC 8.9.2 Background Queue not working - SOLVED

    When I try to consolidate or transcode a AMA linked clip with "run in background" checked my Avid does nothing. There is no error message and everything is green. The Background Queue says "running" and "processing" but nothing happens. No progress at all.

    Is this a bug in this version? Or am I missing a setting? Previous versions worked well.

    I had a simmilar case with 8.9.1. It could be solved with uninstallation of MC and re-installation.

    I already tried un- and re-installation. Unfortunately with no luck.

     

    Try an uninstall and then locate your Avid installation folder (C:\Program Files\Avid) and remove the Editor Transcode folder (it seems to leave behind components that may not get successfully overwritten by the new installer - I don't know why but this has worked for me more than once over the countless updates).

    Make sure you do not disturb your plugins folder...

    Then reinstall 8.9.2

    Do you have an anti-virus program that may be interfering with the installer or perhaps the runtime service? Hope Avid support can help.

    Unfortunately still no progres so far. As I am in the middle of a project right now, I don't have much time to search for the cause. Apart from this the software does what it should. Maybe I reinstall Windows and everything else during the X-Mas holidays.

    I can report that I am seeing the same issue. Background transcode stalls, but there is no error message.

    I solved the issue!

    If you own a NVIDIA Quadro 4000 don't use driver v353.82 which is recommended here:

    use v342.01 instead. That did the trick for me.

    Strangely enough, installing the driver out of the utilities folder worked for me as well....
