Issue exists on MC 8.6.3, 8.6.4, and 8.6.5.
When creating a shape to be matted, on one keyframe, then creating another shape on the second keyframe, the shape of the matte should morph from one to another when playing back. Problem is that sometimes when stepping frame by frame, the object will shift position left or right instead of showing the next step in the morphing sequence. Is this a bug? And if so what version is this fixed?
The only work-around we found was to click on the timeline in the record monitor and then the single frame tool would accuerately morph the shape accordingly. The problem is that the VFX editor works with many keyframes so it is nearly impossible to click somewhere on the timeline without clicking another keyframe.
Also when using the tracking feature, zoomed in just 2x's, the right side of the record monitor doesn't update when moving thruogh the sequence. May be a seperate issue but is still used within Animatte.

In my experience this is normal behaviour for the animatte shape, when the keyframe timeline is dull in brightness, the cursor keys move the matte shape, and if you click on the key frame timeline the cursor keys move through the footage. You can zoom in on the key frame timeline (zoom control on left side of the key frame timeline) to get more timeline detail, which may help avoiding selecting an unwanted key frame.
If you use the step forward keys and not the cursor keys you advance in the timeline.
Hey Martin, There is another Animatte issue where copying one matte keyframe to another keyframe will add the matte to the second keyframe as another layer leaving the orginal matte as well. Is this also inate to Animatte as well? If so is there a work-around?
not unless the key frame marker window is white, if not both will move the matter shape.
