Trouble with MCF due to my AAX Plugins

    Hi everyone,

I'm new to MC so I've downloaded MC First and want to share my initial experience.  I had lots of trouble lauching the program.  Since I own PTHD 12.8 and have lots of AAX plugins, MCF gave me tons of trouble because of several AAX plugins in my folder which are made by some farily popular developers like Slate Digital, Line6, and Positive Grid. (A more comprehensive list is below)  I couldn't launch MFC without it crashing unless I removed plugins from my plugin folder.  I have close to 500- so it took some time to narrow it down and realize what happened, but I just put all plugins in the Unused folder and launched again.  Not convenient at all for me to have to do that every time I launch a different Avid program, but...

Anyway- it launches now and I load my video and immediately learn that I can only use 7 avid plugins.  I re-read the website and it says I can use plugins from the Avid Marketplace, but even when BF76, Channel Strip, Smack, Sci-Fi, Sansamp all are in my plugin folder, they don't appear in MFC.

After spending some time testing, I narrowed the crashes down to a list of plugins that I could keep in my folder without causing MFC to crash.  Below are images of the error messages and a list showing which plugins gave MCF trouble.  I also have a crash report, but it won't let me upload it here.  I'm worried that even if I buy Media Composer that my plugins will continue to cause problems and be annoying to work with.  Any solutions/suggestions are appreciated.

EDIT:  FYI, you can drag these images to your desktop to view them- this website is cutting them off.

Re: Trouble with MCF due to my AAX Plugins

For the mac2Qt error you may find the solution in this old thread  ( http://community.avid.com/forums/p/106902/681732.aspx )

To test whether the issues remain with the full version of MC you can download and install a 30 day demo version. You need to uninstall MC | First before installing MC.  And then uninstall MC demo before going back to MC | First

I do not know a way to get around the audio Plug-ins issue with MC I First other than removing the plugins from the folder.  (that is not saying that there may not be one!!)

If in your situation I would find a time I did not need to use PT's for a few days and use that time to get to grips with how MC | First works. Then having this basic experience of MC workings, uninstall MC | First and install the MC demo with your audio plug-ins back in their folder.   Should quickly enable you to find how many of them work.

FWIW there is a deal that you can get an annual subscription for all of the Pro Tools HD plug-ins.  In theory (I have not tested it) they should all work with MC (and MC | First).
