Editing 4k footage in 1080i project

    Hi all.

I shoot with the Osmo in these settings: 3840x2160 30fps
My projects are edited in Avid MC, but my other cameras shoot at 1080i 29.9 fps

When I load the footage into Avid, it looks fine, but during the exporting process, it ends up looking awful.  Full of artifacting and staircasing.  Is there something I'm missing?  Do you know what is the best way to downgrade the footage?
    Any help would be great.

How are you bringing the media into MC? Linking or importing. If importing (or linking and then transcoding) what are you using for the format (DNxHD xxxx)? And are you editing in a UHD project and then downgrading, or in a HD project? Finally, to what are you exporting and at what settings?

To ensure a high quality down-scaling during the export, make sure that you select "Advanced (Polyphase)" as your Render Settings / Image Interpolation value.  This makes a big difference in the export quality.
