Re: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti & Avid MC

On PC MC references "GPU" which could mean the CPU GPU or a GPU like the GTX-1080. Anyway to tell if MC is using GTX-1080?

MC claims "no additional hardware" -- but does it consider GPU boards as "hardware?"

Curious what Nvidia driver you and others are using for GTX-1080.

Is there anyone using this card?

    Or anyone from Avid?

    Thanks!

Re: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti & Avid MC

I'm running that card and havent had any sort of issues right now. Not doing a ton of 4k, but its working well when I do.

Occasionally Ill use GPU-Z to see how much of the card is being utlized, and I do see some usage, unfortuntaly I havent paid enough attention to break it down any more than that.

I've got the 382.33 driver installed, and Im on MC 8.9 right now.

**EDIT - I just realized you were asking about the TI variant of the card - Im only using the base GTX-1080 version

Re: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti & Avid MC

There are so many variables to what makes a good setup.

    I have a 1080 ti, running mc  8.9.1 on a diy intel 7820x setup.

My 1080ti works flawlesly if I use blackmagic intensity (open io) as a video output

However in the past i tired software only with 3 displays and i couldt get flawless performance on my 3rd  full screen playback monitor.

Re: GeForce GTX 1080 Ti & Avid MC

Right now I have a HP z840 with 2x K5200 cards. I'm thinking about replacing one with a GTX 1080Ti if it will work with the z840.

This is not for Avid. I do more DaVinci Resolve. But for my work I need a system where I can use Resolve, Avid Symphony, and Premiere with not issues.

OK.  I use all the software you mentioned (multiple monthly subscriptions) with no issues.

    Hi cls105,

We're also considering this setup.  Just want to check again the playback issue you're having.  Usually we have two LCD monitors for editing and one broadcast monitor for playback and quality check.  Are you still encountering that playback problem on a monitor?

    Thanks in advance :)
