Re: New Fusion 9 and Avid Connect

OK, I reinstalled both Fusion and Fusion Connect, and it does in fact work!!!!! So you don't need the paid version, nor the I/O box.

Re: New Fusion 9 and Avid Connect

The web site seems to indicate that it shouldn't work with the free version. Does that add to the con Fusion, notwithstanding the fact that you have it working.

Re: New Fusion 9 and Avid Connect

Also, why does it say 'NEW'?

The plugin's been around since Blackmagic aquired Fusion from Eyeon. Does this refer to the fact they think it won't work with the free version?

    As you say, confusion reigns!

Re: New Fusion 9 and Avid Connect

Just tried it now and it behaves just like version 8 did. That is, Avid layers are exported, but clicking the 'Edit Effect' button doesn't start up Fusion. I can start Fusion and then load the comp manually. Exporting back to the Avid timeline works as expected.

So, I'm not getting the complete success others have reported. Could this be an OS/MC version issue?

I'm on Windows 7/64 with MC version 8.5.3

Re: New Fusion 9 and Avid Connect

Just as with Fusion 8 some folks have success with Connect. I could never get it to work but it works fine now that I've upgraded to the Studio version. In my opinion a necessary upgrade for support of OFX plugins anyway and now pretty inexpensive.

I just tried a clean new install of Fusion 9 and Fusion Connect 9 here on a W7 64 Pro SP1 with MC version 8.8.4 open. The AVX starts Fusion, loads the comp and renders back into the MC timeline.
FWIW I do have BM Hardware (Intensity Pro 4k) installed on both the W10 and W7 machines. Maybe this makes a difference.

I have a Decklink 4K SDI card fitted, so I don't think it's a hardware issue.  The only thing that seems different is the version of MC I have installed (8.5.3).

BTW the Blackmagic hardware seems to work well with Fusion 9, once you enable previews to the card from 'Preferences'.

Didn't we suspect quite some time ago that having the BM hardware seemed to be a factor in the free version launching from MC?

Combo of that and or the BM Desktop version perhaps.  FWIW I am on 10.4.3 with W7 and 10.9.3 with W10.

Bruno has a BMD card, and it's still not working for him.

    Bruno M:

    DStone:
I just downloaded Fusion 9 (free). It does not install the Fusion Connect AVX into Avid. I am unable to test the Studio verion.

The AVX plugin is a separate installer. Scroll down from where the main installer is located and you'll find it.

Just downloaded Fusion 9, and there is no place on their site that has the AVX plugin.

Not sure where you see it. If the plugin is available, I'd love an actual link, since there seems to be no such thing on BlackMagic's site.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide!  Looking forward to trying this.

EDIT: Finally found it.  It's actually on the support page, and not the normal download area where 99.99% of people will be looking.  Here's the actual link:

Try this (takes you to Blackmagic support page).  Select Family product  "Da Vinci Resolve/ Fusion Software". Look in "Latest downloads"   Third item down.
