tape is cheap, the necessary drives to read the tapes aren't.

    you'd bee looking at LTO-5, 6 or 7

RDX is the reverse. The drive is cheap. The tape is expensive (about $100 - $150 per terabyte).

    Re: ama relink and transcode

    stefanocps:

i think i find the solution for my version from an old post

    this is the workflow

Edit your transcoded clips into your timeline and finish up your edit.

To relink back to your original AMA clips, close the bin with your transcoded clips, open the bin with the AMA clips and select all those clips. Open the bin with your sequence and select your sequence as well (holding the control key as you select to sequence so that it is included in the whole selection).

At this point, the only files selected should be your original AMA clips and your sequence.

Right-click on the sequence and select 'Relink...'

In the Relink dialog, select the option that reads as 'Selected Items in ALL open bins' and then make sure the option to create a new sequence is ticked. The other default options should suffice.

Click OK and a new sequence should appear. It should look exactly like your original sequence but will have each clip replaced by its AMA counterpart.

Now you can do a video and audio mixdown at a much higher quality and put these in another sequence (the mixdown will let you then do a SAS or QT Ref export to an encoding package like Squeeze, Adobe Media Encoder or TMPGenc for transcoding to a delivery format).

It actually took much longer to write this description that it will take you to execute these steps.

i tried in the test sequence and work..i have to try in the big one

yhe only problem is that i have all the ama linked files in several differnt bins and i don t know how to select them all together

    This sounds so familiar...

Not sure how best to select all the linked clips across multiple bins - anyone?
