I HATE the Title Tool (since 1999)

    There, I said it.

Yeah, it's ter-ter-terrible.  And I've never hopped to Marque because, it's pointless to have so much extra functionality when all I need is a good, solid, "title mock-up tool" that'll get me by without too much pain until I'm ready to do the real work in After Effects.

Not sure why we still even have it, something that's not a pallette but an effect window (like New Blue, or what Premiere or God forbid FCP has had) is really all that is needed.  God help you if you try to keyframe anything for reals in any edit program other than smoke.

I agree with you ... Marquee is overkill for day to day use (and overall not great), and any one serious about titles will use other software.

As you said, Title Tool should be an effect palette like in FCP.

For me, working in French, one of the most frustrating thing is that some fonts that have accents don't show up in Avid (but they show in Photoshop, Word, etc.). But there is also the ridiculous preview that's often not accurate and pixelated, words that get cut up once viewed in the time line because the border is too tight, etc., etc.

Tilter Pro starts a 300$US. It is ridiculous to pay that much for a titling software when you can have After Effect for 19$/month. Avid really need to look at what FCP and Premiere have been doing for years or at least just give us a Title Tool that does the basics without glitches.

I'd second that, it's so clunky now. I mostly either do simple titles or placeholders for the GRFX pros to tidy up. The fact that the TT won't work at 4K or any custom sizes is a real pain.

Well i love it for SIMPLE titles, rolling credits and temps!

Ok, having to regularly resize the text box to stop lines truncating as you change font size is annoying,

but it's so easy to teach students to use! Sadly we are now doing 2K projects so it's not an option.

NBTP on the other hand makes me want to take back all the mean things I said about marquee!

I find it clunky and counter-intuitive. Lilttle things lik a fade out being called a "fade in", the inability to save 'projects' without paying out a lot of money, showing the spinning beach ball constantly in MC windows while it's open, the time it takes to launch, having yet another 'manager' app constantly running and asking you to log in. I could go on.......

    Here here,

I have to admit the drop shadow function on TT and Fade Title key in hamburger menu are far more intuitive than After Effects.

    But overall, huzzah.

I like it. Simple and fast.

Be great if some of the long standing bugs were fixed and it could do greater than HD.

Marquee is overkill as it New Blue titler. The render times are killers.
