Short answer is yes.
Thanks, I did update and 8.8 is working fine but I was hoping to get a dongle updater and got no option for that, I just provided my system ID and it went to electronic license without giving me the option. Did I miss something?
For whatever reason, Avid still doesn't let you get the dongle updater file through the AppMan unless that's changed since December when I updated my dongle the last time. You have to go to your Avid account online to get the dongle updater, then use that file with the AppMan to record the new support contract data to the dongle. You have to do that every time you renew your support contract to be able to use newer MC versions.Since we're using a dongle, I don't think we should have to use the AppMan at all except for things that require software activation (like Phrasefind) - but we do have to use it anyway. I can't stand the AppMan and never have liked it. It's a little better now with the changes that have come in 2017 but I still don't like it or having to go through so many steps to update the dongle. By now, that process should have been much better streamlined and intuitive yet still hardly anyone understands what's required.
Then, there's a common problem with getting the dongle updater file. When you try to get yours, you may just get a spinning icon (meaning "wait") that won't ever end. I had to try several times over the course of hours to get the dongle file to come up for download. People still have trouble with that. It's a mess but that's what we have to do if we use a dongle.

Thanks, I went to my account and didn't find the way to a dongle updater, maybe someone from avid could walk me throught.. I'm mid project right now so I'll wait a few week to do it anyways.
Nicov
email me when you are ready.
Will do, thanks!
Does this apply to student versions?

Not at this time. We are working on an Edu to commercial conversion for June 2017 timeframe so hang on to that license and keep looking here for scoop. you can also ping me directly
Sorry if I am asking something obvious. I understand that this offer is indeed extended through June 30, 2017. So, If I upgrade my perpetual license (the regular one, as I have another educational one), I get 1 year of new software and support. And at the end of this year, if I choose not to continue with support, I can keep the software as it is, with a perpetual license. Is that correct?
Can I buy the upgrade through a reseller o must I buy it directly through Avid?
Thank you very much

If you upgrade your perpetual license, yes you get 1-year software update and support plan. If you choose not to renew you can still use your MC up to the last MC release update covered by your upgrade plan. The upgrade is available both Avid and reseller.
