I need to download the Dongle Updater to get my V.8.8.1 up and working - but it won't download...
I tried on the first PC with windows 7 and IE - No Go!
I tried on the 2nd PC with windows XP and IE - No Go!
I tried on the 2nd PC with windows XP and Firefox - No Go!
I tried on the 3rd PC with windows 10 and IE - No Go!
All I get is the download pop-up window which then hangs
with the spinning purple graphic and the updater never downloads.
What's going on here?

I empathize with you. I had the same trouble in December and had to keep trying until something worked. It's terribly disheartening to know it's still not fixed.

Try using Chrome. I find that for things that FF has trouble with, it tends to work.

There are a couple of issues with that approach. Firstly, FF eventually worked when I had tried over several hours with it in December. Secondly, it's not up to the user to figure out a way to get from Avid what has been paid for. It's up to Avid to fix the problem and it's about time (actually past time) for it to be fixed.
I've had the same issues and it always seems to work with Chrome. But Scott is right - it's something that needs to be fixed.
