    CreateMasterClip seemingly not working.

    I setup my avid system and think it works correctly since I am able to make folders get children and the like. But I seem to be unable to make a master clip. It seems to say something about not being able to checkin to a folder even though I am certain that folder exists since I made it with the createFolder ws call with the same URI. I am using SOAPUI to send the soap message to my interplay service, and am just getting started with AVID.

    <soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:typ="http://avid.com/interplay/ws/assets/types">

            <typ:SourceMobType>Import</typ:SourceMobType>

         </typ:CreateMasterClip>

       </soapenv:Body>

    </soapenv:Envelope>

    returns this result even though that folder definitly exists and is the same URI I used to make it using the createFolder command.

    It seems like from reading the help I want to specify SourceMobType as import and not include a tape name since what I want to do is make a master clip that I can use to cal CheckInAAF into, But whenever I try to remove the TapeName I get these errors showing in SOAPUI

    Re: CreateMasterClip seemingly not working.

    Hi Jeff,

    The command will create a master clip that you'll need a MediaComposer to attach media to later. Please let me know what you're trying to achieve here.

    If you have existing media that you want to put into Inteprlay please look into Avid Media Toolkit (AMT SDK) or import features of the existing Avid products.

    Please see a working example of the create master clip command below

    <soapenv:Envelope xmlns:soapenv="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:typ="http://avid.com/interplay/ws/assets/types">
       <soapenv:Header>
          <typ:UserCredentials>
             <typ:Username>*</typ:Username>
             <typ:Password>*</typ:Password>
          </typ:UserCredentials>
       </soapenv:Header>
       <soapenv:Body>
          <typ:CreateMasterClip>
             <typ:DestinationFolderURI>interplay://APIWG/Projects/test</typ:DestinationFolderURI>
             <typ:ClipName>clip1</typ:ClipName>
             <typ:Timebase>30i_df</typ:Timebase>
             <typ:TapeName>tape1</typ:TapeName>
             <typ:StartTimecode>00:00:00:00</typ:StartTimecode>
             <typ:EndTimecode>01:00:00:00</typ:EndTimecode>
             <typ:Video>true</typ:Video>
             <typ:AudioTracks>0</typ:AudioTracks>
          </typ:CreateMasterClip>
       </soapenv:Body>
    </soapenv:Envelope>

    a response will look like the following if you have a correctly configured working environment:

    <soap:Envelope xmlns:soap="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
       <soap:Body>
          <CreateMasterClipResponse xmlns="http://avid.com/interplay/ws/assets/types">
             <Result>
                <InterplayURI>interplay://APIWG?mobid=060a2b340101010501010f1013-000000-a526b707e8e10085-74a30060dd43-9d08</InterplayURI>            <SourceID>interplay://APIWG?sourceid=060a2b340101010501010f1013-000000-9e26b707e8e10085-84ba0060dd43-9d08</SourceID>
             </Result>
          </CreateMasterClipResponse>
       </soap:Body>
    </soap:Envelope>

    I was trying to make a master clip in a project that I could check an AAF file into that has been pulled from another AVID production system. It seems like I really want to get familiar with CheckInAAF and Avid Media Toolkit which I now need conatact avid about downloading.

    Re: CreateMasterClip seemingly not working.

    Jeff,

    You can apply for AMT using the following page http://www.avid.com/alliance-partner-program/connectivity-program

    If you have AAF from another PAM system then you can use CheckInAAF request to put it into an existing folder.

    The AAF you have contains metadata only and points to media files (MXF essence) on the original PAM system. As the systems do not typically share the same media storage you'll get an offline asset upon checkin into different PAM system.

    It is recommended to use PAM Production services or Transfer Manager to transfer both metadata and media between PAM systems. You could use IPWS to start the transfer jobs only then.
