Hi,
I feel ridiculous asking this but there is nothing intuitive about this. I imported a .PSD file that has an alpha channel. I want to take the whole image and drop it into the bottom left corner and have it on top of the video layer. When I bring in the image it has a key on the image file in the timeline and I cannot add the resize effect. It says no effect. If I remove the key with the remove effect button it removes the alpha channel but then I can resize. When I go to resize the image does not reveal the video on the lower layer it is just surrounded by black.
Anyone know how to use images in AVID?
I create the image file in Photoshop (with a full frame alpha channel) at the size I want it to finally be on the video, so that when I import it into AVID the image is already at the required size, and the alpha channel covers the entire video frame. No resize of the image is then needed within AVID.
To get the sizing I want correctly in Photoshop, I export a single frame of the video from AVID as a .psd file and bring that into PS as a template. Once the design is complete, I delete the template layer.
Edit your PSD with the key effect into your timeline on a video track above the background video. (i.e. If your background video is on V1, put the PSD/matte key on V2 or higher.)
Park on the PSD/matte key effect clip you just edited into the timeline
Enter effects mode.
In effects mode you should see parameters for horizontal and vertical positioning, and scaling. You should be able to resize the PSD/matte key with these.

Thanks everyone. I found it with your help.
There is a 3d button in the bottom left of the effects editor panel. I had to click that.
