i spoke to avid, they said if you are using 2 monitors, and they have different aspect ratios, ie. one is 16:9 and the other is 4:3, they won't work together. This is what i have, i am editing on a 16:9 and this is the one that won't let me drag record/source monitors bigger. Which is strange because it worked in earlier versions, the timeline does drag full screen though. Avid said they changed it, this is now the way it is.

Re: 8.7.2, Can't drag the source record monitors to size of screen

    Hi,

I was very concerned when I read your post as I have 6 systems on MC 8.6.5 that have 4:3 screens attached to 27" iMacs waiting to be upgraded to MC8.7.2. So I tested one system and I was able to replicate your problem.

But the problem only occurs when the start-up screen or project screen or whatever Apple call it is set to the smaller screen. If the 4:3 screen is chosen for the OS then when Avid opens you are unable to resize the viewer windows across the larger screen but if the larger screen is chosen as the OS default screen, (the one where your hard drives etc show up), then you are able to resize the viewers across the whole screen.

I guess you're not using an iMac and have 2 screens attached to your tower but this fix may just work for you. Give it a try.

Although I've replacated this problem on MC 8.6.5 too with the Mac OS menu bar on the smaller screen so this may not be of any help to you.

I just saw your note, but yes on a mac pro, it doesn't seem to work no matter what the start up monitor is, i tried all the versions couldn't get it to go.

    thanks
