Re: Source browser wont link to H264 files

If you have installed Avid without installing Quicktime first the Avid installer might have created a Quicktime folder inside the windows 32 folder and that one will not be removed even if you uninstall both Avid and Quicktime later on.

So just to search and check , if that is the case I know no better fix than a new os install ....

I was worried someone was going to say that! Starting to come to the same conclusion here too, maybe roll back to Win7 in the process.

Interestingly, I cant find a 'windows32' folder on my machine!

I have a support call into Avid in the meantime.

Ok, now we have checked that one, how about disk properties for the external drive , do you have read and write permissions for all

Yes, I thought of that. Permissions OK, but to double check I copied files to internal media drive. Still no joy linking.

    Ok ...

In one post you say clean install of Win 10 and in another you say update , you also mentioned roll back to win 7 , that not should be possible if it was a fresh Win 10 install .

So, what is the situation , there is a command in win 10 to install fresh .

No - I updated to Win10 with free MS offer, then clean installed from downloaded image file. I cant 'roll-back' as such. Id have to use my old install media and clean install with that.

Tomas - you were right, back to a clean OS install has done the trick (Back to Win 7). Did a few rounds of correspondence with Avid support, but in the end I had to 'bite-the-bullitt'.

    All good now. Thanks
