In earlier versions of MC I could copy the MC Editor Guide und MC Effects and Color Guide into C:\Programme\Avid\Avid Media Composer\Online Library\DOCS. By this way, they were accessable in the Help menu of MC.
Now (I work with MC 8.6.3) "Documentation (PDF)…" is greyed out in the Help menu. How can I change this?
That documentation is in the Knowledgebase.

You could download them and place them in that location and maybe get what you're looking for or download them and just place shortcuts to the files on your desktop or elsewhere.
Scott
Thank you, Scott.
I did already what you recommend. I just wonder why only the shortcut works, but no pdf files are available from the Help menu within MC. I would be interested to know if other users have the same (small) problem.
Roland
It's true that the link to the PDF docs is not active inside the latest version of MC, however pressing the F1 key still opens the full Help guide inside a browser.
Gerry
I see. Yes, I haven't seen them installed in the way they used to be for a few versions now. It appears that the installer packages aren't including them. I have noticed the shortcut still being present in the Start Menu even though the files aren't in the folder but I'm not sure if I've tried going through the Help menu to get the files.
I'll report this to see if this was a conscious decision to stop installing them (and if that's the case, suggest removing the Start Menu shortcut and the Help menu item) or if the installers have just somehow been failing to do what they used to do and might still be expected to do.
Thanks fpr the hint (F1), Gerry.
But isn't the Help accessible from the menu? Using F1 is just a keyboard shortcut.
Am I not correct that we're talking about the PDF guides not being there and not that the Help itself isn't there?
You're right, Scott.
Roland Achini: You're right, Scott.
Good, I've already pointed out the issue and this thread to those who can look into it.
Thanks Scott for the email and for following this thread. I touched base with our tech writer and she indicated that individual PDFs are not installed with the help any more.
She looked at the MC on Mac. When you select Help > Documentation (PDF), it opens a folder with one doc in it (MC ReadME First) that when you open it, includes a link to the KB page with all the latest PDF’s. She changes readmes, what’s new docs so often, this is a link that will always point them to the latest pdfs.
She noticed on the Windows version of the editor, the Documentation (PDF) link from the Help file is grayed out.
Both of us think that is a bug. We will get engineering to take a look at that.
