    iNews Random Client Disconnects

    With the start of our new school year and our students starting to use the system again we find that our iNews clients are exiting from the server at random times. The log is showing two different error messages, "Exit: No response from client", and ""Error Communication With Client (16:Recv)". It happens randomly to all of our clients, sometimes multiple machines at once. Our IT department says it is not a networking problem (ie the network link is not broken when the client exts happen). The log shows the server sitting happily all summer and overnights when there is no activity with no errors. Once the clients begin to do work the random communication errors occur. Anyone have any ideas on where to start looking for the cause of the problem? Thanks.

    Hello Mark,

    Could you please simply check the /var/log/messages logs for the ethernet card activity in inews server inorder to track if the server has problems with the ethernet connection or not? it may write " A kernel: tg3 0000:02:00.1: eth1: Link is down" or so.

    Thanks for the tip EA but the /var/log/messages logs show only the "Exit: No Response..." and "Exit: Error Communicating..." items. No evidence that the ethernet link is ever down.
