    Allow non-supported NICs

Is there a way to enable non-supported NICs to connect via NEXIS Client Manager, acknowledging of course that there would be no Avid support on that particular configuration?

    Re: Allow non-supported NICs

You can try any NIC you'd like. There's nothing in the software that will stop a NIC from functioning. For Windows we make changes to the driver so it functions correctly. You should be able to manually make these changes that we detail in the readme. Some drivers don't allow for these changes and why they don't work.

Can you give me an idea of what NIC you're trying to use?

    Re: Allow non-supported NICs

    Thanks Bob,

It's mostly Apple related, on laptops which have WiFi only. NEXIS Client doesn't see the system at all. I've tried manually adding the system name/hostname/ip address, and it never appears as an available system. Each computer can browse to the web interface with no problems.

Clients are fully patched up with OS X and Avid.

It appears that a system HAS to have an Ethernet adapter, even if it's only connected over WiFi only, to work. E.g. I have a Mac Mini sitting here, only connected via WiFi, and it will connect to NEXIS no problems.

However a recent Macbook Pro, with no Ethernet, never sees the system.

Ethernet must be used to connect; the Apple Thunderbolt to Ethernet Adapter is fully supported for this.

I wonder this too... Any way to turn on "all interfaces" or something? Recent macbook pro here too and I'd like to access it over wifi. I do know performance will suffer but it's just a case of accessing data. No reason to block that... Or?

To accomplish this I suggest setting up a File Gateway and share the workspace via FTP or CIFS.

Buying a server for it isn't a fast nor cost effective solution. =/

What's the reason WiFi is filtered out in nexis client?

    Probably performance and stability.

Research around, you can roll your own File Gateway.

What's the reason WiFi is filtered out in nexis client?

The latency is too high with WiFi, the client simply doesn't function.

For the record, running the File Gateway on non-Avid hardware breaks the End User License Agreement.
