Hello,
So I'm having trouble activating media composer 8.4 with application manager. It's been awhile since I've activated media composer but I figured this would work with no issues. When I enter the code it's says, "media composer 8.0 has succesfully activated." But the media composer still shows up asking which activation method I want to choose. I can select activate again with the application manager and it will continue saying its been activated, but it isn't. Can a moderator help me out? I really wanted to start cutting something this weekend. I also called support but they seem to be closed.
Michael Horton: But the media composer still shows up asking which activation method I want to choose
Like I said, it doesn't work. It says it's activated when I go back to medai composer and it continues to the show the same three options. I just tried it again and a pop up comes up saying if I want to close application manager and continue to media composer, I click yes and it shows the same thee options. When I go back to the application manager it shows media composer not activated. I may have not deactivated media composer awhile ago when it was uninstalled, so I'm wondering if that may be the culprit. But at the same time, why does it keep saying it has been succesfully activated? Weird and frustrating.
On the Licensing page of the Application manager does it show DEACTIVATE (in a teal colour) on the right hand side of Avid Media Composer? Can you click on this and deactivate then reactivate?
If you open the Details under Avid Media Composer do the Device ID:xxx , System ID:xxx , and Activation ID:xxx all correspond to the details you have for your license and activation codes?
Does the other lines in here show asLicense Status: Activated License Type: Permanent ?
No it show's only activate that is grayed out. Turns blue when I enter my info. But is reset once I close the application maanger.
I can't seem to find the details. I started a trial mode of MC to see if "about media composer" would show me those options, but it doesn't.
License Status: Trial
License type: trial expires in 29 days.
It does say
Activated
-no options

Hi,
I have the same problem. Did you succed to activate your license?
Hello TOXA,
What specific error your seeing? You are activating Media Composer trial version?
Good luck,

Hello!
Something wired is happening to me.
I have 2 licenses of Avid - 2 system IDs and 2 activation IDs.
When I try to activate the first ID with its associated key, it says that "system ID entered does not match the System ID on record for this activation ID"
Then I tried the first system ID with the key from the second system id. I can activate one Mac like this but when I open Avid, it shows me the activation methods (online, dongle ,trial) and the Application Manager pops out.
Tried the second ID with the key from the first ID: temporary license.
What is going on..?
Thank you!
Hello Laur,
Laur:like this but when I open Avid, it shows me the activation methods (online, dongle ,trial) and the Application Manager pops out.
Did you try activating MC using online or dongle? send me a PM, we will check the systems ID.
Regards,
I had to reinstall completely to my desktop recently, and downloaded 8.4.2 which installed fine and was running after deactivation/reactivation.
However today it wont launch. Brings up the Activation Option Box, however the application Manger Program says Its activated.
Ive tried to Deactivate but get error.Failed Deactivation: Response is out of order with previous responses
The Deactivate Button is blue.
I am a perpetual User but did not renew as hardly use it as am hobbyist. I installed 8.4.2 when rebuilt my machine, and it was working last week. Have upgraded Application Manager.Any ideas

Hello Hugh,
Can you send me an email, include the Avid MC systems ID and Avid Master Account email address. I will help you fix this.
I'm having the same trouble. I have a perpetual license (non-dongle) and the application manage shows that MC is activated, but when I launch MC, I get prompted to activate. I don't get it. If one app shows MC as activated, should that not be the case?
I normally don't answer my own questions, but...
So it seems the trick is, deactivate via the application manager, quit the application manager, launch MC, when prompted, choose online activation, the application manager is then automatically launched, then re-activate and wait. That's a bit messy and non-intuitive, developers. connect the dots. Anyway, now it's working.
