media databases not rebuilding on drive

hi there - i trashed my databases on one of my external harddrives, but when i restart avid now all the files on this drive are offline.

i did delete the databases from the trash (a common error that comes up on the forum)

i did restart my computer, restart the harddrives

i did try to refresh all media directories and load mediadatabases

    but nothing....

i am running avid media composer 7.04.04

    any suggestions?

    thanks!

The file paths haven't changed, have they?  Meaning the "Avid MediaFiles" folder is still at the root of the drive and there are only numbered folders in the /MXF folder?

Try creating a bit of tone media to the drive. The 1 folder databases should be rebuilt.

Are permissions on on the drive?

thanks stefan! (my solution was just to go to my backup drives - i keep a backup copy - and cut and paste back in the old databases)......

But you need to solve the issue. If MC can't update the databases your old ones could be stale. There is a problem and you should resolve it.

    Peter

I suggest you try both Pat and Stefans suggestions as they are good ones.  As Pat indicated you probably have a probem so you need to fix or it will come back.

I'm not sure if this is still current, but I seem to be having a similar issue. The original reason why I wanted to rebuild my Database was that Media Tool didn't show any media though there definitely is some. Having gotten it to rebuild now, the Media tool still shows up empty.
