Ok fixed.
The trick is if you're on OSX is to look in:
Applications > Avid > Application Manager
You need to run AvidAppManagerHelper
Next time I tried opening the Avid Application Manager it worked.
Big shout out to @gegonz who emailed me back after 13 minutes! As it happened I had fixed it by the time he responded but just wanted to say how amazing it was he responded so fast.
Hi Greenoid,
Thank you for sticking with this to get it working. What concerns me is that the App Manager Helper is supposed to start on it's own with App Manager. With that Helper, AM is going to behave correctly.
We would be very interested to see how this behaves for you if you move up to the new App Manager 2.5.1 release. Please let us know.
Thanks
~Keith
....same problem in here ,but with the difference ... I can wait forever ... nothing is happening ... I'm even not able to login again , because the loginscreen is not reapearing...... but !!!...If i log in to my AvidAccount on a total different machine at the same time ...it works !
It seems that the authentication of the ApplicationManger ( 2.5.1.115 on OSX 10.11) is not working , and not running into a timeout , but as soon as the login on a different computer (at the same time) works (Avid-support-account) , it gets automatically as well the authenticationkey ...strange isn't it ?
I never took care of that because no one is using the app.manager. Unfortunately the B-Updates are only available through this new way).

Clemens....
Are you attempting this on a license with a dongle? Have you tried to stop in the activity monitor the appman helper and the appman ? Then try it again. I asume you updated your dongle so the server knows that you have 8.5. You need to do that after a renwwal in order to have the Appman know that your license is active and eligible.
Might be the licensing side here on that one system that is hosing you. email me off forum and I can provide a few tips.

I can't log into my Master Account from the Avid Application Manager. It's always displaying this "The user/password is wrong" message.

PM me so I can't reset your password.

I'm having exactly the same problem, along with two Windows CMD.EXE black boxes that popup and disappear quickly. This means I can't download all the plugin goodies in the bundle I got with my pack.
John
Hi John and welcome to the forums. Is this a clean install or an upgrade? Which version of MC/AppMan? Windows version? I'd try to fully uninstall the Application manager, after the software is uninstalled from the Windows control panel - Programs and features, manually clean up the remaining of the appMan; on Windows 10 go to c:\Program Files\Avid and delete the Application Manager folder; set the Windows file manager to display hidden and system folders, go to c:\ProgramData\Avid and delete the AppManager folder; if You haven't been able to successfully activate delete the Licenses, Support, and SWL folders too, but make a backup first, just in case. Install the latest AppMan, see how it goes and please report back.

Email me so I can reset your password. May I know what operating systems you're running?
Thanks,

Thanks Luca,
I just discovered that when AppMan is running, I don't have an internet connection, and when I quit AppMan, the connection comes back. This would explain why my login won't work, but the real question is why is AppMan blocking my internet connection. When it's running, I can't get a connection with Chrome, or anything else.
Freaky.
I'll try uninstalling, and reinstalling, as you suggest.
Nope. Still the same after reinstall. Thanks anyway.
Did You get the Windows firewall asking to allow the AppMan when first running it?
luca.mg: Did You get the Windows firewall asking to allow the AppMan when first running it?
No, it didn't, however I checked the firewall settings for all Avid apps and, specifically, the Application Manager and it's Helper. They were set for full access on both private and public networks.
The inability to login is frustrating, but nowhere near as frustrating as the CMD.EXE windows (there are two of them) that pop up and then disappear, every 22,9 seconds (I timed them!). These render my system unusable until I quit the Application Manager. Then they stop appearing.
This is driving me a little crazy. Please help if you can.
Except for waiting for Ralph to reset Your password, You could try flushing the AppMAn cache, from the AppMan itself (not in front of a system to provide a step by step guide).
Thanks Luca, I've already done that. Nothing seems to change anything. The two command prompt boxes (dos boxes) keep popping up and then disappearing and I can't find any reason for them to be there. It looks like AppMan is trying to complete an update, or something, but is unsuccessful, and so keeps on trying over and over. Whatever is wrong, it's preventing me from logging in to my Master account through AppMan. I can login to it fine elsewhere.
