    New System

    Hi All,

Getting a lot of 4K work, thinking of upgrading to

    AVID ARTIST DNxIO STANDALONE

    HP Z840 CPU, DUAL INTEL 8-CORE XEON E5-2640 PROCESSORS, NVIDIA QUADRO K4200 4GB GFX, 32GB DDR4-2133 ECC MEMORY, WINDOWS 7, 64-BIT

Samsung 40" UA40JU640W UHD LED TV as a Client Monitor

Is anyone running DNxIO as yet, still kepping my other system going as an ingest machine. Like to know how its all going for you guys.

    Thank in advance

    Harry

Ps...I also do not understand ACA. Is it worth it for people on the other side of the planet? ...And having spent $170,000AUD personally over the last ten odd years plus software upgrades on top working on various TV Networks gear from Nu Bus thru to now, what does $150US a year give you that the great Avid Community doesn't?

A better sales pitch would be great...

Don't know about that configuration, haven't used DNxIO - sounds good at first glance though.  And ACA membership is now free:

I didn't go to NAB, but I believe DNxIO was listed as being available in the 3rd quarter, which could mean anytime from now to September 30.  I don't believe they are available yet.

Anyone who has one is probably a beta tester and can't say anything because of an NDA.

    Re: New System

    Thanks Kevin,

I got a quote from the local Avid Dealer for the system upgrade, didn't mention that. I thought they were up and running and available now. Look forward to hearing feedback. Thanks for your time.

    Re: New System

Any word on qualifying the 840? We're in the same boat as far as updating our NLE system...and have workflow to include colour grading to a Barco.

Have been a Mac Pro guy but PC seems to be the best option going forward.

We are in a similar situation... I don't think the DNxIO box is availble yet. I also don't want to rush them as BM hardware really needs deep driver love.... we have one suite with BM card and One with Nitrus DX and they are night and day different in feel.

    We bought a Z840 box

2x12 cores (cores are very useful for any Red debayering)

K5200 card as 4k will probably need a large GPU memory allocaton (does in Resolve)

the Z840 is lovely and very fast!

    Thanks Michael

Good to know, I was going to keep the Nitris DX as the trade in isn't very good.

    Thank you for your input...Harry

    No problem....

I'll report back here if we get a DNxIo box before you...

my Nitris DX boxes have been really solid I don't want the sub adrenaline experience most BM hardware seems to produce..

    good luck

    Michael

ps my new z840 can process red 6k footage at max quality to hd faster than RT... So that won't be a wasted purchase;-)

PPS my mum lives in Brisbane is it a busy media place?

    Hi Michael,

Firstly, I'll say hi to your mum for you.

Brisbane is good a bit slow over the the last few years, but I do a 10x1hrs for a network.

From producing, ingest thru to edit. That fills up 6 months.

Adrenaline wasn't to bad, but I did have an Meridien System that cost me a packet when it burn out.

And yes would luv to hear from the first DNxIO users...Harry

    Re: New System

dual 8 Core is fine but 2GHz is to less, you should take minimum 3GHz. With Avid less Cores and higher takt is more efficient.

I have bought dual 10Core 2.3Ghz what was a bad decision. But one year ago nobody could suggest something...
