    OSX 10.10.4

I realize this is very premature, and that we will not see an update from AVID for this any time soon as they just release 8.4 with support for 10.10.3 - which is awesome btw.  In any case there is an update in 10.10.4 that gets rid of "Discoveryd" which would be great fro me to take advantage of for reasons unrelated to Media Composer.  But I dont want to be the guinea pig.  :)  Has anyone been bold enough to try 10.10.4 yet?  Reports?  Mahalo!

Whoever is so brave, here's a tip:  Before upgrading to 10.10.4, do a backup of 10.10.3 or use another partition or just make sure you can revert if necessary.

Did it on experimental machine (the old but reliable macpro 8 core)similar to the first 8.3.1 and 10.10.3....slow responsiveness when adjusting audio mixer, slow redraw....may go back to 8.3.0 which worked great......milage may vary....

Does anyone know of a way to get the installer for 10.10.3?

We'd been running on Mavericks w/8.3 for quite a while, waiting for MC to be compatible with Yosemite 10.10.3. Then MC 8.4 came out, which gave us the compatability we were looking for. That's great! But... when we went to install Yosemite, OS X jumped to 10.10.4, which is now unapproved. Are we stuck in limbo until the version stars align again?

Anyone know of a trick to get a backward version from Apple?

This is why I always encourage Mac owners to download BUT NOT INSTALL a new base version of the OS when it comes out.  That way you have the installer once Avid supports the OS.

Once you have 10.10, you can then download the appropriate Combo updater to get you to 10.10.3, for example.  The App Store is only going to feature the latest version.

You'll need to find an OS X 10.10 base installer somewhere.

And hopefully this is a good reminder to all to do the same when El Capitan OS X 10.11 comes out shortly.

Good points... it's unfortunate that we have to be so pro-active in trying to nab the "base model" OS X. If Apple would just provide access to complete older versions, not just update patches, that would solve it.

Just curious if you are running into any issues with 10.10.4?

    Andrew,

We didn't even try 10.4.4 yet, knowing that it wasn't on the approved list. It's just too much unbillable time to go back a version once you've made the leap. I'll wait to hear if others are brave enough to try.
