Hello Everybody,
we have updated two new Media Composers from 6.0.3 to 8.3 in our Postpro Company. Sometimes we had exported MXF 35 Mbits or 25Mbits Footage for Newsstations. But in the new version it is no more possible to export in this Formats. That is an enormous amount of work for us. Can you give me some tips oder an avid customer patch, that the option is back for us? Thank You!
Change your project's Raster Dimensions in the Format tab before initiating your export. 17.5, 25 and 35 Mb/s are only available in 1440 x 1080 raster size.

Lower bitrates are available if you change the raster to 1440x1080 - once you jump to full HD raster you are forced into 50 Mbits.

Beat me to it, Dom ;-)

The solution for this problem seemed to work in MC8.3. We now work with MC8.4.5, and I'm trying to export XDCAM HD 35 MBit/s in a 1080i50 project. In 8.4.5, you cannot change the raster size to 1440x1080 any more. Furthermore, you cannot create a 1080i50 project with 1440x1080 raster size, so exporting 35 MBit/s seems to be impossible. Am I right? Will this problem be fixed? Is there another possibilty to export XDCAM HD 35?
Do you have any external hardware (i.e. Matrox, Blackmagic, etc.) attached and powered on? If so, you may have to power them off before starting the software in order to enable thin-raster projects.
That's it!
There was a Blackmagic Ultrastudio Box connected. Turning it off with the HW/SW button in Avid is enough to be able to go to 1440 raster.
-> XDCAM HD 35 export is possible with MC 8.4.5
Thanks!
