Slow and choppy playback on 8.3.0

    Hi

I got some really painful choppy playback on our new AVID setup. We are using a NaStar server, where I got some material converted to DNxHD36.

When I play it will sometime display this message:

Exception caught in APlayer::Play - Exception: SFPlayConsumer::Execute TIMEOUT

and also this in the console:

ERROR: VDM3BOBVideoOut::Cleanup() - BOB has not displayed frame after 2000 ms! (enabled = true)

Can anybody tell me what to do?

Does it play media off of your local drive?  I've never heard of a NaStar server which makes me think that's your problem.

Try playing off of your local drive before anything else.

    Hello,

What I/O hardware are you using? We are having the same problem with Avid 8.3 and the latest BlackMagic Desktop Video drivers (10.3.5).

This is just attempting to playback AMA linked ProRes from a local drive. I've also noticed as I'm typing this, that the Error seems to be occuring even when Avid is paused on a frame, in the background.

This feels very similar to issues we encountered with MC 7.0.4 which caused a similar messages and laggy behaviour: http://community.avid.com/forums/t/127555.aspx?PageIndex=11

I'm going to rollback to 8.2 and/or rollback to an earlier Desktop Video Driver.

    Tim

Same setup for us. AVID 8.3 and BlackMagic Desktop Video Driver 10.3.5.

I tried to turn off "FAST SCRUB" and it helped a lot, but I still get some error messages.

Get the last 5 decklink drivers or so and test them one after the other. I had the same problem a while ago and one of the older drivers worked very well, but i don't remember which one it was :-)

Re: Slow and choppy playback on 8.3.0

There is something wrong with Blackmagic Card, I have same issue with this card and nobody seems to know what the issue is, I got in contact with Avid they said is a blackmagic issue, I got in contact with Blackmagic they said is Avid issue our card works fine. So it is little pointless to try and fix this. I suggestion would be to get the money back from the seller and then get a different card like AJA or Matrox etc.

I have the same problem with choppy playback etc. MC8.3, OSX10.9.5 and Blackmagic v10.3.5. The Blackmagic card is a Decklink Extreme 3D. If I disable the video IO the playback is good.

We have had the same problem with MC8.3 running on Mavericks 10.9.5 with an Eclipse. Updating the Blackmagic drivers to 10.3.7 (was 10.3.5) seems to have cured the issue.

Same here, blackmagic driver 10.3.7 fixes the problem.
