AMT 2.10.0.923 fails to open any P2 MXF File

    Hi,

I've just updated my AMT development version from 2.8 to 2.10. Now OpenMxfFile fails on any P2 MXF OP Atom derived file with error code 72 (AMT_UNKNOWN_EXCEPTION_RAISED). Rewrapped OP1a files still work as expected.

Console output shows the following error:

    Syntaxerror.
    [ 24-11-2014 14:38:55,103 ] Assertion "Get DisplayWidth succeeded" violated in r
    outine "AA::Media::Media".
The violation occurred at line 238 in file "..\..\AA\Media.cpp".
The condition "hr == AAFRESULT_SUCCESS" was false.

Is this a known issue? How to fix this problem?

    Regards,
    Kai

    kai,

AMT is not designed to operate directly on native P2 files, its purpose is to read and write OP-Atom files in the Avid domain. For reading and writing native P2 files, you will need to harness a commercial MXF toolkit.

    Andy,

typically we use bmx (mxf toolkit) to create "clean" OP Atom files that are handed over to AMT. This worked up to AMT2.8. Starting with AMT 2.10 the same files cause internal AMT exceptions.

    Hi Kai,

You'd need to open Support case for the behavior you see to investigate further. Please find the issue reporting template in the AMT documentation, fill it in and submit with your case.

    Thanks,

    Vadym

PS There is also AMT 2.11 that may fix your issue unintentionally

    Hello Vadym,

ok, I'll open a Support Case after I've tested AMT 2.11.

One thing really bothers me. When we started our AMT based development in 2013 we got updates regulary without asking for them. About a year ago our contact person at avid stopped sending notifitcations. Since then we had to ask several times before we get any answer (if at all) from this person. Typically I have to send about 4-5 emails until I get a reply. Even our customers often know more about available updates than we do. This is really the worst developer experience since I work with Avid SDKs (started around 2006).

    Regards,
    Kai

    Kai,

I am sorry to hear about your experience with our AMT SDK support. I will look into the reason why you stopped getting updates for AMT and had poor response to your emails.

    Sincerely,

    - Rob

Since version 2.11 still shows the same problems handling P2 derived files I've opened a support case.
