Since I updated Application Manager to 2.1.1.455 it crashes constantly. Anyone else seen this?
Any fixes? It happens on all three Workstations that it is installed on.
Tried unistalling and reinstalling.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
R.

hmmm.....
The difference between AppMan 2.1.0 and version 2.1.1, is there was a fix to prevent you from updating Media Composer if you didn’t update in a specific window of time after the Application Manager started. Engineering thought that this might come up in the field and would’ve generated several support calls so they fixed it.
I suggest.... you reinstall Appman 2.1.1 and if it still has issues - rol back to 2.1.0 and report back.

I discovered a problem with the Application Manager Helper component. I found that it creates hundreds of temp file every hour. After a few days there were hundreds of thousands of files in the TEMP folder, my hard drive was full and I couldn't even open that folder without crashing explorer. My computer uses an SSD cached hard drive and the hundreds of thousands of temp files crashed the SSD rendering my computer/editor non-bootable. It took two days to get it working again!!!
Needless to say, I uninstalled Application Manager Helper this morning and it's not coming back.

We are aware and CET is working on it ....
Crashing here as well, every now and then, only at login, very random....

In my case "Application Manager Won't Start" would be more descriptive. I get:
>>>>>
There was an critical error initializing the licensing engin.
Error code:5

AppManager had been running successfully for a few days after updating itself (apparently to 2.1.1 if the file in C:\AvidDownloads\EX is any indication) but then came out with this error. It may have been caused by installing the NVIDIA 340.80 driver which lead to kernel mode faults (so I had to revert to 340.52). But a complete uninstall / re-install from scratch of Avid MC 8.2 and its associated parts does not resolve the issue.
MC still appears to run, but I'm guessing without a viable AppMgr, at some point I will have licensing update problems again. :^{

"When Everybody goes Right I Go Left" I Move "Just" a little Different
I also occasionally get an error message asking me to trash the licenses folder (or similiar)....
I found the answer to the error code 5 problem in the thread: http://community.avid.com/forums/t/130912.aspx
It turns out that attempting to install the NVIDIA 340.80 driver is one of the causes of this error. But for me, a dongle user, the fix as given in the above thread was fast and painless.
Hi Marianna,
Thanks for the response. Is there a standalone installer for Application Manager? Or do I have do a full install of MC?

UPDATE: Just found it !

I rolled back to 2.1.0 but still had the same problem. As soon as the status in the Apps tab updated from 'Syncing' to 'Current' Application Manager crashed.
I've now rolled back one more version to 2.0.0 which appears to be stable so far.
Ralph.
Boudumoon: I've now rolled back one more version to 2.0.0 which appears to be stable so far.
But didn't remain so! Now exhibiting the same behaviour - crashing as soon as the apps register on the Apps tab.
This effectively makes it impossible to deactivate Avid and transfer it to another workstation.
ok it monday and i said i'd get back on this and i'm still stuck on my end i'll talk to tech surport in the am, i was trying to format my c;\ drive and a simple little thing like a wierd keyboard. I run multiple PC's with a kvm box and a wiredless keyboard and mouse. well windows doesn't load the driver until it to late for the keyboard to see the to load cd\dvd press any key, and all of the wired key boards that i had went the way of the socks that the clothes dryer eats my favorite pair of socks. So pc user's know how long it takes windows to load and then the 3 hr of chaseing my tail with the keyboard thing it was too late to get the support call in so i'll try again tomorrow
