NEMFileWriter has detected upstream pipe stall

    Hi:

I wanted to make a query. See if someone also has this problem.

I have installed the AMC 7.0.4 on OS X 10.9.4.

I have material from a Sony Handycam HDR-CX740. Material recorded at 1080 50p (AVCHD).

When I try to import or consolidate, Avid will not let me. But let me make trascode. And here comes the problem. Halfway through the process, I get an error and not let me do transcode correctly.

Exception: NEMFileWriter::ExecuteInternal TIMEOUT -  NEMFileWriter has detected upstream pipe stall...

I've also tried 8.1.0 AMC but the error persists.

Any idea ?. Thanks in advance. A greeting.

Just try with AMC 6.5.4.2 and no problem.
But I would be interested to work in version 7 at least.
Could it be a bug in version 7 and 8?
    A greeting .

+1 on PC 8.1 with AVCHD import.  Problem clip then imports correctly on second attempt.  For us this is ex NAS storage and I put it down to a network slowdown at the times it occurred.

MC8.10 Win 7 64 with Dongle, Dual 10 core Xeon, Quadro K4000, Adaptec RAID 5-8x3TB, External TB2 4x3TB, 64G RAM, BM Intensity Pro 4K. NewBlue Titler 6... [view my complete system specs]

    Vote 1 - Dongles.

UME an old engine, now with 4K, mags and furry dice....

Re: NEMFileWriter has detected upstream pipe stall

Usually it means one, or a combination, of these:

    1. You have a spanned clip.

    2. The source or destination drive can't keep up with the transcode.

    Options:

    1. Check your drive speed with Blackmagic Disk Speed Test. (Free)

    2. If your local drives are fast enough, and your transcoding from a network drive, copy the files to a local drive, then retry the transcode.

    3. Join the spanned clips into one, then retry the transcode. Sony might make a support app for your camera.

Unfortunately, this error is a long-standing one with AVCHD. If none of these work, search the community. Google's site search feature is a big help. Here was my search string:

Re: NEMFileWriter has detected upstream pipe stall

    First, thanks for the help.

My clips are not spanned. And I make transcoding from an internal hard drive (1TB 7200rpm) to an internal SSD.

I'm googling to see if I find something else.

    Thank you.

I'll be more explicit – I Google'd it for you:

    https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=NEMFileWriter+has+detected+upstream+site%3Acommunity.avid.com

Something crazy to try - slow your down your computer while transcoding:

    http://community.avid.com/forums/p/122935/741677.aspx#741677

If that works, then it's slow disk I/O.
